Superintendent Kristopher Harrison announced the appointments at the Board of Education's reorganization meeting Friday.

Salcito previously served as an elementary consulting teacher at Bedford Hills Elementary School. She was "second-in-command" to the principal and served as acting principal at times. Salcito also served as a literacy coach in New York City for seven years, where she also worked as an elementary school teacher for four years.

“Jackie's warm demeanor and deep instructional background will be a great match for our Dows Lane community,” Harrison said. “Her professional experiences have equipped her to be a strong partner for [Dows Lane Principal Deborah] Mariniello, our faculty and staff.”

“She brings a passion for teaching and learning that is steeped in her belief that all students can be successful,” Mariniello said. "We look forward to working together this summer and welcoming all Dows Lane students and families back to school at 'Popsicles with the Principal and Assistant Principal' at 3 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Dows Lane Outdoor Classroom."

Samuelson previously served as an English teacher and instructional team leader at New Rochelle High School prior to joining Irvington. He also worked as a middle school ELA teacher.

“Matthew is a dynamic educator whose leadership will quickly prove to be an asset to Irvington High School,” Harrison said. “His outgoing personality and experience as an English teacher will complement our high school team exceptionally well as they partner to provide a rigorous education for our students.”

“He is incredibly thoughtful and equally enthusiastic in his practice and will be an outstanding addition to the team,” Irvington High School Principal David Cohen said. “I am excited to have him join the IHS family and begin partnering with all in the school community."
